Before you apply…

Do I need a psychology or counseling background?
No. What matters is your ability to listen well and hold space. Training covers the rest.
How many hours can I work?
Whatever you want. Some Frens do 3–5 sessions a week; some do 25+. You choose the pace.
What does training involve?
About 4–6 hours of self-paced modules covering active listening, boundaries, and crisis-response protocols.
How and when do I get paid?
Weekly, direct to your bank via Stripe. Payout starts the Monday after your first completed session.
Is this safe for me as a Fren?
Every session is monitored by our safety system. You can end any session, block any user, and escalate to our on-call team at any time.
What happens during a 'crisis' call?
You are never alone. Training walks you through what to do; the platform surfaces crisis-line resources; and our on-call team is one tap away.
Can I be a Fren if I'm in therapy myself?
Yes. Being in your own work often makes you a better Fren, not the opposite.
How long does the application process take?
First contact within 48 hours. Verification + training typically wrap in under two weeks.
